DESCRIPTION:After registering below\, you will receive a confirmation email with a Zoom meeting link. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this intimate and engaging talk\, Ryushin will draw from decades of Zen practice and teaching\, along with his personal exploration of psychedelic medicines as sacred sacraments\, to explore where these two paths meet.  \n\n\n\nHe’ll reflect on how Buddhist wisdom and psychedelic experience can inform one another\, opening new ways of understanding the mind\, awakening\, suffering\, and what it means to live with greater awareness\, compassion\, and freedom. \n\n\n\nTogether\, we’ll explore how these ancient teachings and profound experiences can help us recognize conditioned patterns\, deepen our understanding of ourselves\, and bring greater wisdom and presence into everyday life. Ryushin brings a rare perspective that bridges traditional Zen practice with firsthand experience of psychedelic states. \n\n\n\nCome join the conversation\, bring your questions\, and connect with our community as we explore what can emerge when Zen\, psychedelics\, and the work of integration come together. \n\n\n\nBio:Rev. Konrad Ryushin Marchaj is a Zen priest in the tradition of Zen Buddhism and a dharma heir of the late John Daido Loori\, Roshi. Formerly the abbot of Zen Mountain Monastery in the Catskill Mountains of New York\, \n\n\n\nBorn in Warsaw\, Poland\, he immigrated to the United States in 1967. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Yale University in 1976 and a medical degree from Albany Medical College in 1980. \n\n\n\nRyushin began practicing Buddhism in 1983 and entered full-time residential training at Zen Mountain Monastery in 1992. During his tenure as abbot and director of operations\, he also collaborated with liberal arts educators to integrate contemplative practices into higher education. \n\n\n\nSince 2014\, he has been deeply engaged in exploring ayahuasca ceremonies within diverse traditions\, guided by several teachers.
