Upcoming Reading Event… “The Doors of Perception” by Aldous Huxley!

April 23 @ 6:00 pm 7:15 pm PDT

“If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear as it is, infinite.” – William Blake.

We’re thrilled to reveal our upcoming reading event featuring “The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley!” This book delves into Huxley’s personal journey with mescaline, shedding light on human existence, the essence of consciousness, and the expansion of experience it enables.

Huxley writes within The Doors of Perception that the inside of experience can be known and become paramount to uncover new meaning and purpose as one sees the world through a “different order” of what is real.

This different order is perceived in terms of intensity of experience, profundity of significance, and relationship within a pattern. Our primary mode of ordinary perception is based on our constructed relationship with time and space and is described by Huxley as the outside of experience which is mediated through language, symbols, and concepts.

We invite you to explore the entire text, which first made its appearance in 1954. Spanning roughly 79 pages, depending on the version. Also, for your reading pleasure, we’ve cherry-picked three key passages that explore the meaning and purpose of what Huxley experienced during his mescaline trips. (Available here by PDF), but we’re all about personal touches—so bring a favorite snippet to share!

There is much to resonate within The Doors of Perception, a classic in the literature about psychedelics and their use.
